Singapore public holidays 2027 at a glance

That's 11 public holidays, counting both days of Chinese New Year. Five of them make a three-day weekend on their own: New Year's Day, Chinese New Year, Good Friday, Hari Raya Haji and National Day.

Two fall on a Saturday: Labour Day and Christmas Day. There's no extra public holiday on the Monday after them. If you're covered by the Employment Act and work a five-day week, your employer gives you either another day off or an extra day's pay instead, so it's worth asking early whether that day off can land on Monday 3 May.

Leave ideas: how to turn 11 days of leave into 31 days off

These plans assume a Monday to Friday week. Together they use 11 days of annual leave for 31 days away from work.

Two more are worth knowing. Good Friday with Monday 22 to Thursday 25 March as leave gives you 9 days, from Saturday 20 to Sunday 28 March. And Vesak Day alone, with Friday 21 May as leave, makes a 4-day weekend if you'd rather keep the May bridge short.

For MOE kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, the 2027 school year runs from Monday 4 January to Friday 19 November. The school holidays are:

Schools are also closed on these days, which gives families a few extra long weekends:

Junior college and Millennia Institute dates differ a little: the year-end break starts on Saturday 27 November, or after the last A-level paper for those sitting the exams. Schools used as O-level venues end the year on Friday 29 October.

For a family, the March holidays are the easiest big trip of the first half. Five days of leave, Monday 15 to Friday 19 March, cover the whole break from Saturday 13 to Sunday 21 March.
