As each August run ends, for the next year. The 2027 Tattoo (6 to 28 August 2027) went on sale on 31 August 2026, and the 2026 Tattoo on 25 August 2025, each announced as the season closed. No release time was given. Earlier years followed other patterns, so check the Tattoo's news page.

No published figure for when dates sell out. The Tattoo says the 2026 run drew more than 225,000 visitors over 26 performances with an almost sold-out audience every night, and it urges early booking.

Can I cancel or change?

No exchanges or refunds unless a performance is cancelled or rescheduled or the programme changes materially; bad weather does not count. If you cannot go, the Tattoo's own resale facility may resell your ticket for an admin fee, but resale is not guaranteed: email resale@edintattoo.co.uk.

How to book

Book online through edintattoo.co.uk or call the Box Office on +44 (0) 131 225 1188. Ticket prices are shown only once you pick a performance on the booking site, and we could not read them. Seats come in bands from A+ to D, plus Premier seats and the Royal Gallery.

In 2027 there are shows at 21:30 Monday to Friday, and at 18:15 and 21:30 on Saturdays and on Friday 27 August; there are no Sunday shows. Each lasts about 90 minutes.

Tickets are issued to the Tattoo Tix app; in previous years they arrived by the end of June. Hospitality packages (from £225) and travel packages from the official partner Glory Days are sold separately.

If it’s sold out

Check the official booking site again for returned tickets, which come back through the Tattoo's own resale facility.

Look at the official hospitality and travel packages on edintattoo.co.uk. Unauthorised resale or transfer can get a ticket cancelled, so avoid other sellers.

Booking for a group

Up to 20 tickets per online order. Groups over 20 book through the Box Office (+44 (0) 131 225 1188, Monday to Friday 12:00 to 16:00). The Tattoo does not usually offer discounts.

Children aged 3 and under go free on an adult's lap; everyone older pays full price. Under-16s cannot sit in the Royal Gallery. Wheelchair and accessible seats are booked by phone, and a wheelchair ticket includes a seat beside it for one essential companion.

Good to know

Book soon after the summer run ends if you need a particular date, especially a Saturday.
The show is outdoors, goes ahead in rain, and umbrellas are not allowed in the arena, so bring waterproofs.
Bags larger than A3 are not allowed into the venue.
Install the Tattoo Tix app before the trip and log in with the email you booked with.
