Afuri ramen Ebisu: the first Tokyo shop, what to order and how to book

Updated

Afuri's first Tokyo shop, in Ebisu, has 18 counter seats, is open from 11:00 to 05:00 and takes reservations. The one to order is the yuzu shio ramen, a clear golden broth scented with yuzu, at about 1,390 yen (October 2026). You buy a ticket at the machine, pay by card, IC card or QR code, and eat at a wooden counter in front of the open kitchen.

Afuri is the light bowl. It is named after Mount Afuri in Kanagawa, where the brand makes its broth with spring water, and the idea is a ramen that is clean, delicate and not heavy. It is the opposite of a rich pork bone bowl, and it suits a late night, a warm day or a first ramen in Japan.

What to order

The signature is the Yuzu Shio Ramen. The broth is made from whole chicken and seafood stock, seasoned with salt and finished with yuzu juice and peel. Afuri uses ultra-thin noodles made with whole grain wheat and rye, a half soft-boiled egg, mizuna, bamboo shoots and chashu seared over charcoal slice by slice.

At the ticket machine, you can adjust the bowl.

Other bowls worth knowing:

Add a bowl of grilled chashu rice with yuzu and grated daikon if you are hungry.

What it costs

as of October 2026, from diners' reports. Afuri's own menu page does not list prices.

Tabelog puts the average spend at 1,000 to 1,999 yen. Diners in August 2026 called the prices high for Tokyo ramen. A reservation adds a 500 yen booking fee per person.

How to order

  1. If the counter is full, wait in line outside.
  2. Buy a ticket at the machine. It is a touch screen that shows one choice at a time, such as the chicken oil and the noodles.
  3. Pay by card, transit IC card or QR code. Afuri Ebisu does not take cash, and you cannot top up a card inside.
  4. Take your seat at the counter as directed. A staff member confirms your order.

If you have booked, tell staff when you arrive. Guests who reserve receive a small gift on arrival, according to Afuri.

How to reserve

Afuri Ebisu has taken reservations on TableCheck since 22 September 2026.

Afuri's store list shows a booking link only for Ebisu among its Tokyo shops, so the others are walk-in.

The queue and when to go

There are 18 seats at a counter, so a line forms when the shop is full. Diners in 2026 describe the pattern:

Lunch and weekend evenings are the likeliest times for a wait. Booking takes the wait out of it.

Hours and getting there

Open every day, 11:00 to 05:00 the next morning, until the soup runs out, according to Afuri. The shop is closed for the New Year holiday, according to Tabelog.

Address. 1F 117 Building, 1-1-7 Ebisu, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. Phone 03-5795-0750.

Getting there. About 3 minutes on foot from JR Ebisu Station. It is next to the bars of Ebisu Yokocho. Ebisu is one stop from Shibuya on the JR Yamanote Line.

What to expect

A tidy counter with wood, white tile and exposed concrete, and an open kitchen where you can watch the bowls being made. Afuri's neon sign at Ebisu is green. It is a quiet meal, and one person eating alone is normal. It suits children too, and strollers are welcome, according to Tabelog.

If it is packed

Afuri has other shops in Tokyo. Hours are from Afuri's own list, as of 4 November 2026. All of them close when the soup runs out, and all of these are fully cashless.

If you want a different bowl nearby, Ichiran Shibuya is the private booth tonkotsu ramen, and Ramen Nagi is the dried sardine counter in Golden Gai.

From Singapore

Afuri had a shop at Funan Mall in Singapore, which closed on 15 June 2025, according to local reports and listings. There is no Singapore bowl to compare against, so Tokyo is where to try the original.

Where it fits in a trip

Ebisu is one stop from Shibuya, so Afuri fits an evening that ends at the Shibuya Sky sunset slot or a late bowl in the area. The 5 days in Tokyo plan and the 7 day Japan plan both spend time in Shibuya. More Tokyo meals are on the Tokyo food pages and the full Eat guide.
