Alhambra tickets: when they go on sale
Under the Alhambra's official rules, tickets go on sale in three releases: 25% of the year's tickets 12 months before the visit date, another 25% 3 months before and 20% 1 month before, on tickets.alhambra-patronato.es or by phone. Whatever is left can be bought until 2 hours before the Nasrid Palaces slot.
- When does booking open?
- In three releases: 12 months, 3 months and 1 month ahead. The Order of 29 May 2023, the visiting and sales rules the Patronato lists as current, puts 25% of each year's tickets on sale 12 months before the visit, 25% 3 months before and 20% 1 month before. No release hour is published (Granada is on CET, or CEST in summer). The shop's calendar sits behind a CAPTCHA, so we could not see how far ahead dates show today. The prices page still says online sales close at 23:59 the day before; the shop and the 2023 rules say leftover palace tickets can be bought up to 2 hours before the slot.
- How far ahead is that?
- Up to 12 months ahead, with more at 3 months and 1 month.
- Where do I book?
- The official site, tickets.alhambra-patronato.es, or the official phone line, +34 858 889 002. Same-day tickets, if any are left, are sold at the ticket office in the access pavilion and at machines on site. Visitors from abroad can book online and pay by Visa, Mastercard or American Express.
- Does it sell out?
- There is no official figure. Travel guides report that Nasrid Palaces slots in spring, autumn and summer go weeks to months ahead. The Nasrid Palaces take 300 people every half hour, and only part of the tickets is released at each stage.
- Can I cancel or change?
- Every purchase is final, and the date and time cannot be changed. Refunds only if the visit could not happen for reasons on the Alhambra's side, and the management fee is never refunded. Names can be changed by phone (+34 858 889 002) up to the day before, only on orders of 5 or more: 1 name for 5 to 9 tickets, 2 for 10 to 19, and so on. Missing your Nasrid Palaces slot means losing palace entry.

How to book
Book on tickets.alhambra-patronato.es or by phone on +34 858 889 002, and pay by card when ordering. Official prices: general day visit 22.27 euros, Gardens day visit 12.73 euros, night visit to the Nasrid Palaces 12.73 euros, night visit to the Gardens 8.48 euros, Alhambra Experiences 22.27 euros.
Tickets are personal and non-transferable. Each visitor carries their own ticket (QR code, on paper or phone) and shows the original ID card or passport it was booked with. Every day ticket has a fixed Nasrid Palaces entry time, and you must be there at that time.
Children under 12 are free but need their own ticket. Ages 3 to 11 must be booked in the same order as the adults; under-3s get theirs at the ticket office. Under-12s need no ID: their ticket carries the details of the accompanying adult.
If it’s sold out
Check again 3 months and 1 month before your date, when more tickets for it are released. After that, keep checking the official site: unsold palace tickets can be bought until 2 hours before the slot. The ticket office in the access pavilion sells same-day tickets, if any are left.
If day slots are gone, try the Gardens ticket or a night visit to the Nasrid Palaces.
Booking for a group
One person can buy at most 10 tickets a month, per bank card, so a larger group needs a second buyer with a different card. Every ticket is named and checked against ID at the gates.
Visits of 11 to 30 people count as a group. Tourist groups must be led by an accredited guide.
Good to know
- For April, May, September or October, book at the first release you can, rather than waiting for the later ones.
- Type each person's name and ID number exactly as on the document they will carry.
- Allow travel time when you pick the Nasrid Palaces slot: arriving late means losing the palaces.
- Bags larger than 40 by 40 cm are not allowed in; there are free lockers for ticket holders.
