Oktoberfest tent tables: when reservations open
There is no single date: each tent opens its own reservations, and the official Oktoberfest site says most do so by spring, in April or May at the latest. For Oktoberfest 2027 (18 September to 3 October), the first tents to announce open from late February, March and 1 April 2027.
- When does booking open?
- Tent by tent, most by April or May before the festival. Oktoberfest 2027 runs from 18 September to 3 October 2027. Announced so far on the tents' own sites: Kufflers Weinzelt takes requests from the end of February 2027, the Löwenbräu-Festzelt in March 2027, and the Käfer Wiesn-Schänke from 1 April 2027 at 12:00 CEST. Other tents had not posted a 2027 date by 15 October 2026. Requests sent before a tent opens are not answered, and nothing can be booked straight after the previous Oktoberfest.
- How far ahead is that?
- About 4 to 7 months ahead, depending on the tent.
- Where do I book?
- Directly with each tent, through its own online portal or request form, sometimes by email or phone. There is no central booking office, and visitors from abroad can book online.
- Does it sell out?
- Evening tables, above all at weekends and before the public holiday, are the most sought after, says oktoberfest.de; weekdays and lunchtimes are easier. The Löwenbräu-Festzelt already says it has no evening places, only weekday lunch slots. There is no official figure for how fast tables go.
- Can I cancel or change?
- Rules differ by tent. You pay in advance for food and drink vouchers. They are valid for the whole Oktoberfest, and oktoberfest.de says unused ones can be redeemed in the hosts' restaurants until at least 31 October, or refunded in full. Reservations may not be resold, and tents cancel those they find being resold; the official resale portal sells them at the original price.

How to book
Send a request to the tent through its website as soon as it opens. A request is not a booking: the tent confirms by email days or weeks later. Reservations are for a set time slot, such as lunch or evening, not the whole day.
Once confirmed, you pay in advance for food and drink vouchers. The minimum in the main hall is usually 2 litres of beer and half a chicken per person; oktoberfest.de puts the average at around 350 euros per table, and tents may add up to 1.50 euros per person plus postage. The reservation itself is free. You collect the vouchers from the tent's office before the festival, or have them posted, including abroad, for a fee.
If it’s sold out
Check Oktoberfest-Booking.com, which oktoberfest.de calls the official booking and resale portal for 21 tents. It is run by Festzelt OS GmbH in Munich. Returned reservations are sold there at the original price, and it alerts you when tent quotas become available. You can also ask tents directly in the weeks before the festival: the city's site says small contingents can appear shortly before or during it.
You can also go without a reservation. According to oktoberfest.de, the large tents keep part of their seats unreserved: 25% from Monday to Friday, and 40% on weekends and public holidays until 15:00, then 25%. The Oide Wiesn keeps a third unreserved. The Käfer Wiesn-Schänke, Kufflers Weinzelt and the small tents are not bound by this rule.
Booking for a group
Tables are booked whole and seat 8 to 10 people, and every person needs the minimum voucher package. The organiser usually pays for the table and collects from the group.
Smaller groups often do better walking in early on a weekday. The Hofbräu-Festzelt keeps 600 seats free for families on Tuesdays from 11:00 to 15:00.
Good to know
- Check your chosen tents' websites from February and send requests to several tents on the day each opens.
- Weekday lunch slots are much easier to get than Friday or Saturday evenings.
- Only book through a tent's own site or Oktoberfest-Booking.com: reservations bought elsewhere can be cancelled.
- Without a reservation, arrive when the tents open, ideally on a weekday.
