Bayreuth Festival tickets: when they go on sale
For the 2027 festival, the order period closed on 12 October 2026, and the remaining tickets go on instant online sale from 6 December 2026. The start time has not been published yet.
- When does booking open?
- Instant online sale from 6 December 2026. Orders for 2027 were taken from September 2026 until 12 October 2026. Allocations and invoices go out from 22 October 2026, and rejections on 11 November 2026. The festival has not yet said what time the 6 December sale starts. The 2027 festival runs from 24 July to 24 August 2027.
- How far ahead is that?
- About 7 to 10 months ahead.
- Where do I book?
- Only through the festival's own ticket shop, My Festival, or in writing. Visitors from abroad can buy online.
- Does it sell out?
- The festival publishes no figure. The allocation process suggests demand is higher than supply for many performances, but there is no reliable figure for how fast the 6 December sale goes.
- Can I cancel or change?
- No returns or exchanges, and no right of withdrawal. Refunds only if a performance is cancelled, without the fees. Passing a ticket to someone else goes through the festival's ticket office and costs 5 euros.

How to book
You need a My Festival account with a verified email address. If you have ordered before, log in rather than registering again.
Once you enter the shop you have 30 minutes to choose tickets and pay, and payment is immediate. There is a fee of 6 euros per ticket, and postage is 16 euros.
If it’s sold out
Keep checking the official ticket shop after 6 December. During the festival, the box office is open on each performance day from 10:00 to 12:00 and for two hours before the start.
The festival forbids resale on eBay, Viagogo and similar sites and checks ID against the name on each ticket, so only buy from the festival.
Booking for a group
Up to 4 tickets per performance and 16 per customer; only 2 per performance in categories G1 to G4, E3 to E6, C6 and C7. A larger group needs more than one account, which makes sitting together harder.
Every ticket carries the visitor's full name, and ID is checked at the door, so you need everyone's name when you order.
Good to know
- Create and verify your My Festival account well before 6 December 2026.
- Have everyone's full names ready, since you have only 30 minutes in the shop.
- Bring a passport or ID card that matches the name on your ticket.
- For 2028, watch for the next order period: for 2027 it ran from September to mid-October 2026.
