Leaning Tower of Pisa tickets: how far ahead you can book
Tower tickets go on sale online 90 days before the visit, on a rolling window that moves forward a day at a time, and stay on sale until the day itself if places are left. On 15 October 2026 the official calendar was open up to 13 January 2027.
- When does booking open?
- Rolling window: 90 days before the visit. The official ticket conditions say tickets can be bought online from 90 days (GMT) before the visit until the day itself, subject to availability, and the live booking calendar matched this on 15 October 2026: its last bookable day was 13 January 2027. The official FAQ still says 15 days; the calendar shows that is out of date. No release hour is given.
- How far ahead is that?
- Up to 90 days ahead.
- Where do I book?
- Online on the official site of the Opera della Primaziale Pisana (opapisa.it), or at the ticket offices at the entrances to the square. Visitors from abroad can book online.
- Does it sell out?
- No published figure. On 15 October 2026 the official calendar had Tower slots left that day only from 17:00, and most morning slots on the next two Saturdays down to 1 to 4 places, while January 2027 dates were still open.
- Can I cancel or change?
- The time of the Tower visit, but not the date, can be changed, or the whole order cancelled, up to 2 hours before the chosen time, with a full refund to the card used. Late arrivals are not let in and not refunded.

How to book
Buy on opapisa.it, paying by VISA or Mastercard in euros; the buyer must be 18 or over. The Tower costs 20 euros, or 27 euros combined with the other monuments, with no reductions. The e-ticket arrives as a PDF by email and can be shown on a phone.
Tower slots start every 15 minutes. Any ticket also gives free entry to the Cathedral. The climb is 251 steps and takes about 30 minutes.
The ticket offices at the entrances to the square normally open 30 minutes before the monuments and close 30 minutes before them.
If it’s sold out
Ask at the ticket offices on the square for remaining same-day slots.
Online orders can be cancelled up to 2 hours before the slot, so places can come back; recheck the official calendar.
Booking for a group
Every climber pays the full price. Children who will not have turned 8 by the end of the year cannot go up (in 2026, anyone born in 2019 or later), so plan who waits with them; under-18s must be with an adult, and ID may be checked for age.
The online form takes up to 15 Tower tickets per time slot. If someone's plans change, the order can be cancelled up to 2 hours before, but the date cannot be moved.
Disabled visitors and one helper enter the Tower free, on site only, in early or late slots; email accessibility@opapisa.it at least 5 days ahead (another official line says 3).
Good to know
- Arrive 15 minutes before your slot: bags must go in the free cloakroom before the climb.
- Be on time: late arrivals are refused with no refund.
- The site does not recommend the climb for people with heart or muscle conditions; the floor is uneven and slippery.
