Chichen Itza tickets: can you book ahead?

You cannot book official day tickets in advance. They are sold only at the ticket office at the site, on the day, every day from 08:00 with last entry at 16:00 Yucatan time; the state's online ticket office sells only the night show.

When does booking open?
At the site's ticket office, on the day you visit. Open every day from 08:00 Yucatan time (UTC-6), last entry 16:00; INAH starts clearing the site at 16:30. Cancun and the Riviera Maya are one hour ahead (UTC-5). Tickets sold online by other companies are resales or tours, not official tickets.
How far ahead is that?
Same day, at the gate.
Where do I book?
Only at the archaeological zone's ticket office (taquilla). The Yucatan state's online ticket office (CULTUR) sells the Noches de Kukulcan night show and the Museo del Meteorito, not day entry, so visitors from abroad buy in person like everyone else.
Does it sell out?
Day entry is not a limited, dated ticket and neither INAH nor the state publishes a daily cap, so it does not sell out in the usual sense. Queues are the real issue, and there is no reliable figure on how long they get.
Can I cancel or change?
Nothing to cancel for tickets bought at the gate. Third-party tickets and tours follow their seller's own terms.

How to book

Pay at the site ticket office when you arrive. The Yucatan state lists the total entry as MXN 697 for foreign visitors, MXN 310 for Mexican nationals and MXN 105 for foreign residents. INAH splits it into its own MXN 105 fee plus a state fee of MXN 592 for foreigners or MXN 205 for nationals. No account or app is needed.

Because nothing can be booked, plan the day around opening time rather than a ticket slot. Companies such as Civitatis sell 'skip the line' tickets and tours online at higher prices; these are resales or tour packages, not official sales.

The night show, Noches de Kukulcan, is a separate event run by the Yucatan state government, listed for Wednesday to Sunday at 19:00. It is booked on its own site, nochesdekukulkan.com.mx, where you need to log in to buy.

If it’s sold out

Day entry does not sell out. If your group wants everything fixed in advance, a licensed tour that includes entry is a legitimate option, but it costs more than paying at the gate.

Booking for a group

Each person pays at the gate, so there is nothing to book for the group. Anyone paying the national or resident rate needs ID that proves it.

Neither INAH nor the state lists a group booking channel. Parking at the site is MXN 124 for a car or van of up to 9, MXN 150 for a Sprinter and MXN 200 for a minibus or coach.
